For happy soon-to-be-weds getting married in the UK, London is a destination unlike any other.

With beautiful architecture, historic buildings, vibrant streets and markets and even lots of peaceful greenery to be enjoyed, there’s no wonder so many couples choose to tie the knot here each year.

For wedding photos that encapsulate all this – and more – finding the perfect view of the London skyline is essential.

Need a little inspiration for creative wedding photos you’ll always treasure? Here are four of the best places to get the London skyline in the shots of your big day.

Primrose Hill

Known as one of London’s most scenic viewpoints, Primrose Hill is an excellent choice for couples who want to enjoy views of the city from a more peaceful spot.

Primrose Hill sunsets can be truly breathtaking, so we recommend visiting the park around dusk with your photographer to achieve the most romantic shots. Don’t shy away from exploring different areas of the park, as the lush foliage of this tranquil space is just as beautiful as the distant skyline.

The Shard

For couples who enjoy the glitz and glamour of the city, The Shard is an excellent spot. Situated way up at the top of the building, on floors 68, 69, and 72, newlyweds can enjoy 360-degree views across London. On a clear day, you could capture up to 40 miles of the city in your wedding shots, making it the perfect location if you really want to make an impact.

You don’t have to worry about the trip up, either, as the lift will whisk you up to the top deck in just over a minute. Have your guests enjoy a couple of cocktails while you take in the breathtaking views of the city with your new spouse – they’ll find plenty to entertain them while you enjoy a quiet moment taking photos.

St. Paul’s Cathedral

For great views from a more historical spot, try the top of St. Paul’s. Not only will you be treated to spectacular views of the London skyline, but you’ll also be immersed in hundreds of years worth of history – all manner of historic figures, including royalty, may have walked the same path as you will on your wedding day.

There are strict restrictions around who can and can’t get married at St. Paul’s, so only around 30 couples get married here per year. You’ll need to head up to the top of the cathedral as a visitor, but it’s well worth it for the unique opportunity to snap a few of the skyline from this famous spot.

Perfect, quintessentially British photos

For Londoners, there are fewer places more beautiful than the city to get married. For those coming from abroad, London is a truly unique wedding destination that makes for a perfect, quintessentially British celebration. No matter your chosen venue – whether modern, historical, or rustic, one thing’s for certain – a wedding in London wouldn’t be complete without stunning views (and photos) of this famous, glittering skyline.
